As It Is Cracking
As It Is Cracking is a light and video installation of the wall that cracks in real time. As the wall cracks, lights and video appear through the cracks to simulate the change of daylight that is happening in the outside. The slowly changing light changes from being frightful to pleasurable. Daunting cracking of the wall in real time happens over the course of eight hours. Light and moving images appearing through the cracks simulate serene change of daylight. This change is interrupted by sudden and startling appearance of the lightning and more intense cracking of the wall that is triggered when a person enters the room.
As the circle of light increases, so does the circumference of darkness around it.
Even a room which must be dark needs at least a crack of light to know how dark it is.
